Blofield United 1 North Walsham Town 4

North Walsham Town made the trip to Blofield Utd to partake in Norfolk Senior Cup action and ensured their name would be in the hat for the third round draw after smashing the Beavers 4-1.

The Angels started positively and more than matched their more senior opponents with Wilton being thwarted by home keeper Gabillia on two separate occasions, whilst Perry Payne dragged a shot wide when he would've been better served teeing up a team-mate.

At the other end, Columbine and Morgan were linking up well to cause the Town backline a few headaches.

The deadlock was broken on 20 minutes when Town were awarded a rather soft free kick on halfway. Crosby's floated delivery was flicked on by Reynolds and fell for his unmarked centre back partner Charlie Skipper to nod into the bottom corner.

The game continued in a very even manner with both sides giving as good as they got and the scores were even just after the half hour. Columbine escaped the attentions of Hinton and Skipper down the Blofield left, outpaced Reynolds and poked the ball under Liam Davies.

As the interval approached, Wilton again came close as his effort flew inches over, whilst Fawkes and Smith also went close.

At the other end, Town keeper Davies showed great dexterity to divert a wicked Morgan free kick over the bar to mean the scores were level at the break.

The second half saw the home side start the keener of the two sides, but on 51 minutes the Angels struck to devastating effect. Wilton escaped the attentions of Wynne and Whitlam before releasing Fawkes down the left channel. The Town frontman showed immense class to pick out Lewis Smith around the penalty spot and the Town number nine coolly slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

Walsham increased their lead on 65 minutes and, again, it was a wonderful counter attack that did the damage. Matty Payne fed Fawkes, who held off his marker and hooked a ball for Wilton to race clear. At the same time, Perry Payne made a lung busting run into the box and was rewarded as Wilton's low centre found him and he flicked the ball in at the near post.

As expected, the Beavers fought back into the game but the Town defence performed admirably in the face of a concerted home effort with Skipper clearing off the line on one occasion.

With eight minutes remaining, Town made their second change with Leigh Payne entering proceedings for his brother Perry as the Angels looked to see out the contest. However, instead of being happy with what they had, the Angels added a gloss finish to the performance with a fourth goal. Smith broke clear down the centre, played a reverse ball to Wilton who surged past his marker and fired a low cross to the waiting Antoni Fawkes, who drilled the ball home to get the goal his selfless performance deserved.

There was still time for Blofield to have a late chance, as Columbine found space but, despite beating Davies in the Town goal, his shot rolled agonisingly wide. Soon after, referee Jewell ended proceedings to cap a fine afternoon for the Angels, meaning they had knocked out higher league opposition in the second round of the competition for the second year running.
