Fell running is not an easy skill to perfect in Norfolk but super veteran Malcolm Ball took his ninth age group first place in 10 visits to the Lake District at the 15k Derwent Water Trail Race.
The 79-year-old astonished the locals by racing round the tough course in just 1 hour and 38 minutes, beating his personal best for the event by a full two minutes.
Also triumphant was North Norfolk Beach Runner Keith Dickens who finished 82nd in the 10k race to take first place in the 60+ category with an excellent time of 51:52.
Nearer home there were some fine performances at Sunday’s Coltishall Jaguars Autumn 10k with Carmine de Grandis recording a personal best time of 39:28 to finish 17th in the field of 156.
Just one place behind, the ever reliable John Christopher had another excellent run to clock 39:46 whilst Chris Wade went well to cross the line in 28th place.
Further back, Andi and Rob Osborne finished just eight seconds apart in 79th and 81st places but for once, in what has been an immensely succesful season, Andi missed out on the age group prizes.
Making up the sextet of Beach Runners enjoying the excellent running conditions was Jenny de Grandis who recorded an excellent time of 54:49 for 120th place.
