English title bid is a close affair between Norfolk duo

Aylsham's Harley Dyson narrowly failed to win the prestigious English Under 19s Billiards Championship.

Dyson lost 150-139 to Nathan Boughen (West Lynn) in what was this year an all-Norfolk final, and hosted by Kings Lynn’s Malting’s Q Club.

The Aylsham Ex-Serviceman’s player, who is only one year into his playing career, was very unlucky not to take the title, which has in the past been won by World Snooker champions Dennis Taylor and Steve Davis.

As runner-up, to assist his progression, Harley has received a scholarship from the English Amatuer Billiard Association (EABA), which covers his entry into all national ranking events and entry into the English Amateur Championship for next season.

Dyson will next be competing in the Norfolk Billiards Championship, which fellow Alby League players Ian Dennis and David Nichols will be among the favourite’s for the title.
