NORTH Walsham are planning to promote what is being described as one of the fastest growing sports in the UK, Touch Rugby, and are inviting any interested parties - not necessarily rugby players - to take part.
Organiser Justin Loveridge said: 'We would like to see as diverse a group of people as possible taking part. We will be splitting the entries into three groups, one of which is open to all ages, one for women, and the third for U16s with games played on a league basis.
'Touch Rugby is huge in Australia and is growing fast in the UK. Ideally we would like to see teams from rugby clubs, businesses, schools, veterans, footballers and hockey players who want to keep fit without risking injury, taking part. Above all we want the accent to be on fun.'
The series will run at Scottow for nine weeks starting on Thursday, May 14 from 6.30 to approximately 9.30pm. Teams will consist of 10 people with six involved in the action at any one time.
The games are of 30 minutes duration and are played over the width of a normal rugby pitch and the basic rules include a Rugby League style six tackle/touch rule.
The cost will be 20 per team, 10 for U16s with prizes at the end of the six-week period.
