Third team players at Holt Rugby Club have been kitted out in new shirts, thanks to the generosity of north Norfolk businessman Jeremy Stubbs.

The club approached Mr Stubbs, who owns Sheringham-based ceramic giftware company Stubbs Mugs, to ask for his support for 17 and 18-year-olds about to move from the youth section to the senior teams.

“I have been involved with Holt as a coach and a parent for 10 years, and I thought this was a good opportunity to contribute to the development of the club by helping younger players take the next step,” he said.

The shirts are emblazoned with the Holt RFC and Stubbs Mugs logos on the front, with the phrase “I'd rather be in the bar,” on the back.

“Needless to say, they are very popular with the players,” Mr Stubbs said.

Mini and youth training and games are at Holt Rugby Club on Sunday mornings, with club training on Wednesdays at 7pm and touch rugby on Thursdays at 6.30pm.
