Girls are getting ready to "rock up" at Mundesley Golf Club to get a taste of the sport.
The club is among a number across the county taking part in the nationwide Girls Golf Rocks initiative.
It is aimed at getting girls aged five to 18 to try golf, through friendly, fun sessions. A free two-hour taster session on May 4 from 10am to noon is followed by six weekly one-hour sessions on a course costing £35. Its 'graduates' get a goody bag and nine iron club to help them continue to enjoy the game.
Mundesley pro Ryan Pudney, who will run the classes, said: “Girls Golf Rocks is an excellent way of showing girls that this is a sport that is cool and they can take part in and enjoy.
“We will have fun, try out all aspects of golf, and include social time so the girls also make new friends.

“Norfolk has had some excellent girl golfers in recent years including Amber Ratcliffe and Amelia Williamson from Cromer who are good role models and show what can be achieved — but it can also just be about enjoying a new sport and having fun with friends,” he added.
Mundesley Golf Club youth ambassador Ros Fretwell added: “As an ex-PE teacher, my aim has always been to encourage girls of all ages to adopt a positive attitude towards being active and skilful through sport. I am very keen to support this scheme and aim to get many more girls playing locally.”
The scheme is backed by England Golf, the nation's amateur golf governing body, and the Golf Foundation charity, which promotes initiatives to give all children the chance to try the sport.
Last year 1,600 girls tried the taster courses across 21 counties. This year 26 counties are taking part as the scheme expands.
No equipment is needed — just comfortable clothing and trainers — and bottle of water or squash. Other Norfolk clubs taking part in the scheme are Barnham Broom, Eaton, Dereham and Searles at Hunstanton.
