Key game for Buxton

The reigning champions of North East Norfolk League Slater and Frith Division One, Buxton have dropped only three points this season, but their hopes of retaining their title hinge on converting a serious backlog of fixtures into points.

Buxton have already beaten the current league leaders East Ruston who have leaked six points so far.

So the remaining clash between these two could decide the outcome of the title race, writes Roy Webster.

On Saturday Buxton chalked up a 3-0 (Abbs, Callow, Rust-Andrews) victory over North Walsham A to climb into second spot behind Ruston who scored late to earn a vital 3-2 (Woodhouse 2, Stride) victory over Mundesley.

Erpingham have now dropped seven points after sharing two goals with neighbours Corpusty, the respective marksmen Dancester and Seymour.

In Wayford Nurseries Division Two, Aldborough who crashed out of the Norfolk Primary Cup 6-2 to Lynn Docklands, have dropped only three league points so far but they too face a backlog of games and will need to work hard to catch Horning who head the table with only two defeats to their name after hammering Happisburgh Reserves 6-2 (Mileham 3, Bailey 2, Dack).
