Newcomer Jim Riley, scorer of five tries in as many games, is this season's first North Walsham Chalk Hill Brewery player-of-the-month.

Head of rugby James Brooks said of the winger: 'Jim made a positive impact immediately, really owning the shirt with his decisive running and outstanding defence.

'He has a great attitude and is a real team player.'

The 27-year-old, who has his own agricultural business, was at Scottow as a junior but then drifted out of the game before joining neighbours Holt. He was there for five years, the last as captain, and was a key figure in their rise to London 2NE before moving to the Vikings in the summer following their relegation.

'I had a great time at Holt but wanted to play at the highest level I can locally,' he said. 'I'm enjoying the higher intensity and skill levels in this league, the squad are a great bunch and my own game is benefiting from James' coaching.'
