Cromer Town are still looking for their first points of the season - but they showed plenty of fight at Wroxham Reserves on Saturday before sliding to a 5-3 defeat.

The Crabs are a much improved side to the one beaten 6-0 at Cabbell Park in the Premier Division of the Anglian Combination back in October and scored three times after the break to make the score more respectable.

Both sides made light of the heavy conditions and Tom Rampling's early shot was turned over by Cromer 'keeper Liam Davis.

The basement visitors were looking dangerous on the counter attack with Vida Formosa striking the ball well but his shot was straight at Harley Lemmon.

Wroxham started to get on top midway through the first half and took the lead when Shaun Taylor lobbed the ball forward for Danny Rogers to dispossess a defender and set up Ben Fowkes whose low shot found the bottom corner on 31 minutes.

Rogers then found the net himself two minutes later but his effort was disallowed.

Wroxham doubled their lead on 43 minutes with a good move down the left and a cross which fell for Fowkes to side-foot home.

With what appeared to be a comfortable lead Matt Doyle set up Rogers for a third goal on 50 minutes. He cut through the Cromer defence and rounded the 'keeper to set up Rogers to score off the post.

Wroxham then scored a fourth when Rogers found Doyle to score low past the 'keeper.

It looked like the home side were coasting towards a comfortable win but Cromer certainly made a game of it in the final 20 minutes.

Jack Crane converted a penalty to reduce the arrears and within minutes the Crabs had a second when Antoni Fawkes took advantage of a defensive slip to shoot past Lemmon

With time ticking away Wroxham scored a fifth when Rogers somehow managed to weave past two defenders to cross for Aaron Attree to tap-in.

Cromer then pulled another one back when Fawkes added his second.

The Crabs will be aiming to build on their strong finish to the game when they welcome Mattishall to Cabbell Park on Saturday (2pm).
