HOVETON Wherrymen's ambitions of reaching higher status have been raised by the appointment of Bruce Cunningham and Andy Baker as team coaches.

The manager is Reece Cunningham who has been a previous manager at the club.

This follows the resignation, solely due to his business commitments, of Jon Powley, a former player who held the post of manager for six years, winning promotion to the Anglian Combination and successive promotions from Division Five to Division Four.

The club thanked him for his hard work and dedication to Hoveton over the years.

He will, however, continue to support the club and will assist Bruce and Andy when time allows.

Everyone in local football knows of Bruce Cunningham's achievements over many years with Wroxham Football Club, and Baker also has management qualifications.

Hoveton Wherrymen are very excited and optimistic for the club's future success.

They will continue to be backed by founders Alan Royall and Ray Gates.

Training started on Thursday at Hoveton Playing Field.

All past and prospective new players will be welcome at training.

Please telephone any of the following: Bruce 07876 354974, Andy 07773 543038, Reece 07826 544378.

The first two pre-season friendlies are Fakenham away on Tuesday, July 20 and Mulbarton Wanderers away on Saturday, July 24.
