Sheringham High School's U14 netball team has a shot at becoming national champions after coming in the top two of a county tournament held at the University of East Anglia.

After getting through to the semi-finals as the only team in the tournament to win all their games, Sheringham beat Lynn Grove High School 9-8 with Katie Crane providing a last-minute, long-range deciding shot.

They then faced Norwich specialist sports college Taverham High School whom they had beaten earlier in the tournament and lost 9-6.

“They had worked so hard to get to the final that their energy levels were at an all-time low,” said Sheringham High head of PE Rebecca Kett.

“But nevertheless they played an absolute storm and kept their composure throughout, and it was noted by tournament officials how smart and professional they were.”

Along with Taverham the team will travel to Essex in February where they will face the best players from all over East Anglia at the regional round of the National Schools Netball Finals.
