Holt ended the season on a high note by winning their annual encounter at West Norfolk 34-26 to retain the Cubitt Maule Cup.
Coaches Ed Steed and David Bailey used this opportunity to try out some new faces and combinations. There was a first game for new signing James Wyatt while youngster Titus Carrol showed his versatility when he moved to scrum-half when Bruce van Poortvliet was off the field injured.
Holt were soon in the lead from a try by Carrol converted by Wyatt. West then pulled ahead with two converted tries but Holt responded with tries from Josh Simmons and Alastair Hughes and a penalty and conversion from Wyatt to lead 20-14 at half-time.
West started the second half strongly with two tries and a conversion to move six points ahead but Holt again raised their game and were rewarded with tries by Phil Davies and Hughes, both of which were converted by Wyatt, to seal the win.
