Royal Cromer Golf Club Veterans welcomed the visit of Royal Norwich Golf Club Seniors last Friday for the first ever match between the two sections on the Cromer course.

The special occasion was made more historical as club captain Jayne Jones became the first female member to represent Royal Cromer Veterans in an inter club match.

Jayne and playing partner, veterans’ captain Chris Kemp, went on to win their game against Gordon Cartwright, who captained Royal Norwich for the match, and Mike Drury, which proved significant as the overall score was a 4-2 win for Cromer.

Following the match, played in true royal spirit, an excellent meal was enjoyed by the 24 participants in the club house.

Sheringham Golf Club’s Trafalgar Trophy competition was won by Malcolm Poore (83-13-70) while Division Two was won by Martin Bland (86-16-70).
