Wroxham, last season's FA Vase finalists, had three friendly wins on the road ahead of Tuesday night's match with Needham Market which ended in a 1-1 draw.

David Batch has recruited former Yachtsmen stalwart Damian Hilton from Needham for the new campaign along with long-time Sheringham defensive target Steve Jordan.

'Damian is a great signing for us,' said Batch. 'Last year when playing against Needham he was always the threat we were concerned with most and now that threat is for other teams to deal with.

'He can hold the ball extremely well to allow our attacking midfielders more opportunity to join in and won a title at Lowestoft playing at centre-half so he gives us options.

'Steve is not only a huge presence aerially at both ends of the pitch, he's mobile and comfortable with the ball. He is a player the club's been tracking for the past four seasons. 'With him, Graham Challen and Josh Carus, who will be available every match after changing jobs, plus two others that can fill in if needed, we now have the quality we need in that position.'

Batch has re-signed the majority of Wroxham's FA Vase squad with the exception of King's Lynn-bound trio Martin McNeil, Steve Spriggs and Danny White, while Gareth Simpson has joined Norwich United.

On the Yachtsmen's own Ridgeons challenge, Batch added: 'No one within the club has actually mentioned Wembley since we came back for training, which surprised me in a pleasant way.

'Ryan Giggs once said when asked what was his favourite achievement, 'the next one'.'
