Hewetson nicks man-of-the-match honour
Bradfield A (19 pts) drew with Thetford A (9 pts) in the Frankly Digital Norfolk Alliance Division Six
Bradfield A's first home match of the season, saw them secure a winning draw with Thetford. Newly-promoted skipper J Hewetson lost the toss and so led his team out to bat first.
Starting strongly, M Wright set about the bowlers, but then disaster struck as Hewetson repeated the shot that saw his demise the week previous, being caught at mid on for nought.
Joining Wright, T Down was soon into his stride dispatching any loose delivery to the boundary. Wright then perished in the first over as Thetford brought K Grayson into the attack.
With runs at a premium Down along with Locke took full advantage. This prompted another bowling change with again immediate consequence, Down the victim, bowled for 56.

Promoted to number five, N Hewetson stepped to the crease and after his initial nervous introduction soon settled to play some exceptional shots.
This pair continued to harvest the runs steadily as the 200 mark loomed. As he neared his half century Locke was caught behind for a robust 46, and the next wicket was that of Hewetson as he was run out for a stylish 48.

Further runs were added by Register, Bartholomew and Holmes to give Bradfield a very healthy total of 242.
In reply, Thetford made a steady start. Without their usual young opening bowlers, Bradfield called upon the experienced of N Bartholomew and E Locke, and they did not disappoint. Dismissing the two Thetford openers, Bartholomew returned figures of two for 24 from his 12 overs.
Carrying a painful thigh injury, Locke battled through 10 overs for 36 runs, unfortunate not to pick up a couple of wickets. Spinners Wright and N Hewetson had a bit of an off-day between them, and were grateful to some inspirational fielding from their young team-mates – G Phillips, W Baine and S Abbs.
Hewetson did pick up a couple of wickets and was also responsible for two run-outs. In an attempt to win the game the skipper turned to the experience of Holmes, who struck in his second over.
Thetford then batted out the remaining few overs content with what they had.
The man-of-the-match award was presented to Nick Hewetson for his 48 runs, two wickets and two run outs, by the East Coast Group.
