TWO new youthful teams have joined the Star Paving Services North Norfolk Table Tennis League.

New club Gresham's School will play all their matches in the Old Gym with their home night on a Tuesday.

North Walsham Sports Centre adds a fifth team in shape of the Echoes, whose home night will be a Monday. Deltas have changed venue - their home night is still a Monday, but they will play at Antingham Village Hall.

The new teams come into the second division and this means that again Cobras - who finished second from bottom last season - are saved from the drop from the top flight.

However, Backhanders will be relegated which means that there will be no representation from Cromer in the first division this season.

So defending champions Sidewinders and Specials from Gimingham will battle out first division honours with Outlaws from Hunworth, with last year's second division winners Beta joining Walsham Alpha and Cobras and also promoted Seals joining Sharks and Dolphins from Trunch to complete the line-up in the top flight. This year's second division will be comprised of the three Cromer teams - Aces, Backhanders and Crosscourts - plus the Hunworth Pirates and Poachers, Trunch-based Barracudas, the Gimingham Goblins, the Deltas and the Echoes and new team Gresham's.

Matches at Gresham's start early at 7pm, while those at North Walsham Sports Centre have a later start time of 7.45pm with games at all other venues (including Antingham) starting at the usual time of 7.30pm.

Match score sheets will include a tick-box that has to be completed to indicate when players are playing up from lower teams.

The 32-week long season for the 19 teams starts this week with the preliminary rounds of the two Knockout Cups, before the first round proper of both takes place over the next fortnight. League matches get under way on September 28, with the handicap competitions starting in February. The annual North Norfolk championships take place on Sunday, March 28, with the last week of the league itself starting the next day. The four cup finals round off the season in April.
