WHAT a season! Riders have had extreme weather conditions affecting many of the time trials but that has not stopped it being one of the best cycling time trial seasons ever for the North Norfolk Wheelers.

As the first evening 18½-mile Hilly Time Trial drew near the weather was threatening rain and the wind was blowing strongly downhill.

However, just before the 17 time trialists set off the wind dropped and the sun came out and the club saw another fistful of record breaking times. The course record was broken and 11 riders achieved personal bests.

Will Dorsett, who has recently rejoined the club as a first-claim member, achieved a new course record and personal best. He completed the course in a tremendous 45min 37sec - an average speed of around 24mph around probably the most demanding hills in North Norfolk.

To make the course even more challenging he road the whole course on a big chain ring. John Etheridge, achieved a personal best and ensured himself first place on handicapped time in this race and put down his marker after finishing down the field on the first outing of the season.

It is a busy time for the club. As well as a full time trial calendar it has attended three local community events, helping the local authority and police promote safe cycling and at the same time, hopefully attracting new members.
