Liam Walsh was left frustrated after the power of TV meant he was unable to play his part on another winning weekend for the Cromer boxing family.

The 21-year-old's clash with the experienced Steve Gethin on the Haye-Maccarinelli undercard at the 02 Arena on Saturday was scratched at the last minute - to accommodate a bout involving a French fighter, which was being covered by French TV.

“He was very, very disappointed,” said trainer Graham Everett.

Consolation for Liam, and almost 400 members of the “Farmy Army” of fans who travelled down from Cromer, were the performances of Liam's twin, Ryan, and their older brother Michael, who all recorded convincing victories in only their second pro fights.

Super-bantamweight Michael beat another unbeaten prospect, Khvicha Papiashvili from Georgia.

“His opponent was very strong and very durable, but Michael just wore him down,” added Everett. “He just hit him so much that the referee had to stop it.”

Ryan, fighting at super-featherweight, had to give over a stone in weight away against Crawley's tough Robin Deacon, but despite having to go the distance over four three-minute rounds, he won each won convincingly.

“In truth, Ryan is a bantamweight so he fought someone three divisions above him - and he battered him every round,” Everett said.
