Never say die Cromer Town won another six points from their past two games. That hoisted the Crabs' tally to 52, but they are still 10 adrift of league leaders Wroxham Reserves who have played two games more than the Cabbell Park outfit.

On Saturday, Jamie Hunten and Simon Durrant netted the goals that achieved the vital 2-1 win over Beccles Town, while on Tuesday night a 3-1 home victory over Mattishall was achieved by goals from Darren Terrington, Liam Davies and Jamie Hunt, writes Roy Webster.

If the Crabs win their remaining four fixtures and Wroxham lose both theirs, the Sterry Cup would go to Cabbell Park.

However, while Wroxham require just one victory - either from Saturday's visit to Dersingham or at home to Acle next Tuesday to clinch the title - Cromer face tough opposition at Hempnall on Saturday, Lowestoft Town at home on Tuesday then Brandon away and Dersingham at home.

However, Cromer team boss Chris Wigger is armed with the knowledge that Cromer have come from way behind to clinch the Sterry Cup before.

“We are not throwing in the towel yet,” he declared after Tuesday's competent display on a treacherous surface.

Wroxham Reserves may well be losing some of their players for first team duty on Saturday due to suspensions and injuries to around half-a-dozen of Damian Hilton's key players.

However, the young Yachtsmen face Acle next Tuesday without a Ridgeons League fixture standing in their way, so they will be coming out with all guns blazing hoping to end their remarkable season with a barnstorming title winning performance.

Meanwhile, Sheringham's prospects of a top three finish were wiped out by a goalless draw at home to Hindringham, and with only three games remaining the Shannocks may be hard-pressed to make the top five.

In Division One, rumours are rife that there will be three promotions with Holt United building up their hopes that they could go up in third spot following their disappointing 1-0 midweek home defeat by St Andrews. Clubs are looking to the league management committee to make public their thoughts on this issue, although any recommendation has to be ratified at the annual meeting.

With Dereham announcing their second string will be joining the Ridgeons Reserve League, a number of promotion and relegation issues will have to be resolved. However, none of this will affect Hoveton whose Wherrymen have punted their boat to the top of Division Six and only Gorleston Reserves can interrupt their course towards winning the title.

In Division Five, North Walsham Town Reserves sit proudly at the top of the table. They are the only team in the Anglian Combination who have gone all season without losing. Promotion is already secured and only Freethorpe can prevent the young Angels from winning the title.
