Javalin thrower Oliver Bradfield, from Gresham's, smashed the boys' U15 record at the English Schools Track and Field Championships held at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.

He was favourite to win, and did so in style, his throw of 61.28m giving him victory by several metres.

Another record breaker was shot-putter Sophie Mckinna (Great Yarmouth) who smashed the U17 girls record with a massive 15.08m.

Callum Brown, of North Walsham High School, was second in the U17 boys' hammer, throwing just below his best with 63.30m.

After getting his medal Callum (pictured far right) was told he has been selected to compete for England in the home countries international in Scotland on Saturday.

Norfolk won the minor counties junior boys' trophy.
