AFTER a 20-month apprenticeship the new Links Country Park Golf Club's Club Captain, Malcolm Munday, was pleased to throw away his L plates at the Captains' Drive-In on New Year's Day.
AFTER a 20-month apprenticeship the new Links Country Park Golf Club's Club Captain, Malcolm Munday, was pleased to throw away his L plates at the Captains' Drive-In on New Year's Day.
He was joined by the new Lady Captain, Paula Bonnett, and Senior's Captain, Mike Scarrott, in a club competition that saw Garry Woodhouse as the victor with an impressive Stableford score of 22 points over nine holes.
In his inauguration speech Malcolm said that the atmosphere and camaraderie in the club is so very special and the envy of many. He went on to say: 'With the course constantly improving, the clubhouse producing great food and hospitality under the management of Ahmed Nagri, the inventiveness of Gary Potter as golf professional and an increasing membership, we have so much that makes our club special, so I am pleased to accept the honour and responsibility placed on me by the membership.'
Malcolm's charity for the year is the National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease and has already raised �967, further evidence of the spirit and generous nature of the membership.
