NORTH Walsham RFC have just three games left if they are to avoid relegation - and the run-in that the fixture list has given them could not be harder.

On Saturday at Scottow they face league leaders and promotion favourites Mounts Bay.

The Penzance-based professional outfit have lost just two games this season, and standing eight points clear of second-placed Cinderford are favourite for the automatic promotion slot.

So Walsham are faced with a mammoth task.

In the away fixture, in atrocious conditions and with a depleted side, they did exceptionally, losing 26-7 with two of the Mounts bay tries coming from pushovers, virtually impossible to combat legally in the poor underfoot conditions.

Following a week off there should be no injury problems, but with the departure of outside-half Chris Dermody who has returned to New, Zealand, it is likely that Jamie Burroughs will fill the No 10 shirt as he did at Canterbury.

Ever-present Waldo de Jager is one who will have benefited from the break and in the absence of Will Farrer will almost certainly be partnered by free-scoring Rob Clymer.

Tom Holt, missing from the Canterbury game, should resume on one wing with Iain Young and a fit-again Adam Gowen contesting the No 11 shirt.

Up front Stuart Loose and Gideon Rossouw should return, but the choices are many with Shaun Woodhouse, Joe le Roux and Nathan McGrath all available.

Leon Davies was another who missed the Canterbury game, but his replacement, Damien Reilly, impressed so it will be a tight call who makes the start and who is on the bench.

Jason Applin, having served his one-match ban under the totting-up rule, should reclaim the No 8 shirt.
