Cromer won 5-0 at home to bottom team Sprowston Athletic on Tuesday night which saw them go back to third in the league, in the middle of a trio of clubs on 16 points.

Blofield United 1, Cromer Town 3

CROMER returned to league action with a very difficult away trip. Again the Crabs' resources were stretched and they had just two substitutes, writes Richard Cox.

Despite being down to the bare bones Cromer made a brilliant start, taking the lead on four minutes. A cross was cleared to the edge of the Blofield box to Matthew Eves whose first-time strike went into the bottom right corner.

The Crabs continued to dominate and added a second on 16 minutes. Tom Davies' corner went to the back post and the ball was headed back into the six-yard box where Gavin Morais nodded home.

Cromer were not letting Blofield have an easy time and the visitors were defending from the front with Morais and James Pipe giving the Blofield defence a torrid time.

This pressure forced a mistake at the back and gave Morais the ball, who closed on goal before being denied by a well timed tackle from Lee Skoyles. Eves was also causing panic to the hosts defence with his pace and he saw his long-range effort go just over.

The opening minutes of the second half saw Blofield pose their first threat with consecutive corners but Cromer weathered the storm and extended their lead in the 66th minute. The ball broke to the feet of Eves who brushed past three players before firing his second of the game.

Blofield reduced the gap immediately thanks to a brilliantly-struck volley from Kris Hart. Blofield piled forward and pushed the Cromer defence very deep. But they hardly threatened the Cromer goal with the only opportunity going to Dan Wynne, whose header was off target.

Cromer had the last chance when Pipe showed good pace and determination to get past the defender and crossed low across goal where a sliding Tom Davies couldn't quite make the desired connection.

The Reserves also came away with all three points from their home game against Beccles Reserves with Sonny Atherton grabbing a brace in the 2-0 victory.
