The glorious Ingham ground was the venue for Cromer's Alliance Division One fixture at the weekend. Norwich A were the opponents and they won the toss and put second placed Cromer into bat.

Openers Carey and Gascoyne fell for single figures to Rashid and Syaz respectively. A partnership of 55 between Richard Charlwood and Tom Davies put Cromer into a more comfortable position and batting became as easy as first anticipated. The stand came to an end when Davies was bowled for 33.

Charlwood then moved past 50 but his excellent innings was ended on 59 when he was bowled by Sexton.

This bought Sam Baxter to the crease who, with Dean Elliott, upped the scoring rate and took Cromer towards a very good score. In their eight overs together they put on 52. Both players fell in the 46th over to Rashid, having both scored 31.

In the remaining overs Norwich did pick up the remaining wickets as Cromer finished on 186.

Superb contributions from the Cromer middle order had seen the visitors reach a very respectable total.

Rashid was the pick of the Norwich bowlers with 4 for 37 whileCudden picked up three wickets.

In reply Norwich got off to a similar start to that of Cromer, losing a couple of early wickets. They did however seem to be batting quite conservatively.

The only attacking efforts came from Binnie and Vaughn who were the only Norwich players to pass 20. Binnie's innings came to end when Baxter bowled him for 39.

With 20 overs left the home side needed 117 runs with 6 wickets in hand. Although the required rate was very gettable the Norwich intentions were clear and they looked to bat out the innings and it was just a case of whether or not Cromer would be able to ball them out.

Much to the frustration of Cromer they were only able to breach the stubborn defences on three more occasions and Norwich finished their 50 overs on 121 for 7.

Anthony Robinson finished with brilliant figures of 5 for 34 from his 12 overs with Baxter picking up the other two wickets.

Cromer remain second in the table after picking up 15 points for the draw and will be hoping for victory this weekend when they make the trip to second from bottom Topcroft.

Mattishall remain top of Division One after a slender win at Topcroft, extending their advantage over Cromer to 17 points.
