North Norfolk athletes performed well for their county in the Anglian Schools Athletics Championships at the Sportspark in Norwich.

Norfolk finished close behind Lincolnshire and one of the highlights was a new record in the hammer. Paston College student Callum Brown, 16, hoping for selection for the World Student games in France next month, threw the senior boys' hammer out to 65 metres as well as winning the discus.

And Gresham's pupil Oliver Bradfield, recovering from a shoulder injury, won the javelin with 54.23m.

Team scores in the Anglian event were Lincolnshire 693 points, Norfolk 654 points, Suffolk 549 and Cambridgeshire 527 points.

Recently, Callum (pictured) broke the senior boys' hammer record by over nine metres at the Norfolk Schools Championships.

He threw 59.99m with the 5kg hammer to beat a record set 21 years ago. The City of Norwich athlete will be hoping for selection for the English Schools championships at Gateshead and a place in the GB team for the World Youth games in France next month.
