BRADFIELD visited Norwich and Coltishall Wanderers on Sunday in the Lady Mary Cup and the Division One side came away with a very good win against their Alliance Premier opponents.

Put in to bat on a wicket which gave the seam bowlers good assistance, Bradfield faced a hostile opening spell from overseas player L Brown.

P Abbs was bowled by Brown early on but Wiseman and Bidewell took the score to 30 before Wiseman was caught at cover for a useful 18.

R Holmes soon followed, bowled by Brown for one, to leave Brafield stuttering at 40-3.

Bidewell and O Kimber moved the total to 87 before Kimber was caught for 18. Skipper Yarham and Locke soon departed to the leg spin of Lambert, and when Bidewell was run out for a patient 41 Bradfield were in deep trouble at 117-8.

Bradfield still had 10 overs left at this point and Reynolds and Scannell put on a valuable 40 for the ninth wicket due to some great shot selection and hard running between the wickets. The partnership was only broken when Scannell was adjudged lbw.

S Kimber was last man in and he and Reynolds put on 32 for the last wicket in the final over to leave Bradfield on 188. Reynolds was back to his best and finished on 37 not out.

R Holmes and Locke opened the bowling, Holmes taking a wicket in his first over.

After some hard hitting by N Young Wanderers were 31-1 in only the fifth over, but then Holmes picked up his second wicket when Young was well caught by J Grey.

Locke then got in on the act having Brown well caught by Scannell. Holmes caught and bowled skipper Humpreys to leave them in all sorts of trouble at 37-4.

Yarham and Abbs then came on and turned the screw, both picking up two wickets a piece aided by a superb diving catch by S Kimber.

Holmes came back to claim the last wicket and Wanderers were all out for 86 in the 31st over.

R Holmes finished with 4-23 and E Locke finished with 2-28. This was a good team performance and Bradfield will look to carry it on, on Saturday when table topping Bradenham are the visitors.

Credo Asset finance man of the match: R Holmes.
