Blakeney Football Club have seen a monumental turnaround since a Paul Massingham (manager) took charge ably assisted by Martin Oliver, Dave Cunningham and Matthew Burrell. In their first season at the helm Blakeney narrowly missed out on promotion from the Optic NEN League Knights Trophy Division Three finishing third. To boost team morale a veterans match was held at Carrow Road and a couple of additions to squad were sought over the summer break. It has paid dividends as, with December fast approaching, Blakeney have rocketed out of the blocks winning all of their league and cup matches, scoring 78 goals in the process. Blakeney currently sit third in the league with three games in hand, having played six games, won six and scored 56 goals. Blakeney are also challenging in all three of the available cups; getting through to the quarter finals of the Walcott Lighthouse Division Three cup, the quarter finals of the Nicholson of Stalham Benevolent Cup (League Cup) and in the last 16 (and Optic NEN League's only representative) in the Norfolk Primary Cup. Whilst we are small team, we must be one of a few (if not the only) clubs in the county with a 100 percent win record in all competitions, averaging seven goals per game. Although it will be difficult to maintain this all season, we feel this would be a deserving article to prove that even small teams can grab the limelight.
