North Norfolk Beach Runners had 13 athletes among 314 finishers of the Mike Grove 10k race, a fund- raiser for the East Anglia Air Ambulance at the former RAF Coltishall air base.
First Beach Runner home and in 21st place overall was John Fagan in a time of 39.33, while John Gay was 23rd overall in a time of 40.30, not bad for a 50-something.
Other notable performances came from septuagenarian Brenda Kinch, 226th overall in a time of 58.33, and Lesley Winston who dipped and pipped fellow Beach Runner Amy Worley to 265th place in 1.03.55. Earlier 18 Beach Runners were among 177 who ran Chase the Train, which follows the line of the Bure Valley Railway from Aylsham to Wroxham, a distance of 8.9 miles. This is a fund-raiser that NNBR organises for the charity Carers' Trust Norfolk, which provides help, support and relief for full time carers. Last year the event raised £1,800 and it should be roughly the same this year.
