Aylsham St Giles recorded an impressive final day win at the weekend - but it was not enough to secure promotion from Division 2E of the Norfolk League.
Their six wicket success over Halvergate was rendered meaningless as rivals Southwold cruised past Sprowston B by nine wickets to confirm a second place finish.
Aylsham bowled Halvergate out for just 97, with Jeremy Cocks taking 4-5. A second wicket partnership of 40 between Robert Bingham and Chris Deller was then the key as the hosts wrapped things up in 23 overs.
Overstrand completed three years unbeaten at home to secure a fine third placed finish in Division One. David Yarham grabbed 3-32 as they overcame Kirkley & Belton by 29 runs after making 201-7 in their 45 overs (Tony Reedman 48 not out).
Happisburgh's miserable season ended a low-key note when scheduled visitors Castle Acle conceded.
