Aylsham recorded their best result of the season so far at the weekend to ensure they went into the festive break on a real high note.

They saw off previously unbeaten leaders Wymondham Town 2-0 at Youngs Park, with goals from Rhys Cousins and James Oliver, to move to within a point of the Anglian Combaination Division One promotion positions.

In what is shaping up to be a thrilling second half of the season just three points now separate Wymondham in top spot and UEA down in seventh position.

Aylsham are up to sixth although they have played more games than most of their rivals, including Sheringham who remain second despite having their scheduled fixture at Bungay Town postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Mundford are third after a 3-1 win at Yelverton. Tom Crabb scored for the home side but Ian Fancett (2) and Adam Leamon earned the Stags the win.

Attleborough Town are up to fourth after a 5-1 win at North Walsham, who suffered their second heavy defeat on the trot at Greens Road after being hammered 8-1 by Wymonndham the previous weekend.

A hat-trick from Tom Miles as well as efforts from Mark Allibone and Matthew Carr gave the visitors the win.

Luke Everson replied for Walsham, who remain eighth in the table but are seven points adrift of UEA, the side immediately above them, who lost 2-1 at home to Watton on Saturday.

Kirkley & Pakefield Reserves had a crucial 2-1 win at home against Hindringham. Jack Jenner and Brad Carroll got Kirkley's goals and Alfie Clarke replied for Hindringham.

Cromer Town, still seaching for their first point of another troubled campaign, were without a fixture. Up in the Premier Division Stalham Town also had a scheduled afternoon off.

Holt United moved up to second in Division Two after coming from a goal down at the break to beat visitors Mattishall Reserves 3-2. Aaron Dougal, Craig Knowles and Chris Smith were the scorers as the Owls overhauled East Harling, whose game at Martham was postponed,

Holt remain 11 points behind leaders Easton, having played one more game, but are well placed for a quick return to Division One at the halfway stage of the campaign.

The Anglian Combination season now takes a break for Christmas and the New Year, with the next round of fixtures taking place on Saturday, January 6.
