ASHMANHAUGH (199-3) recorded their fourth win in successive weeks in Norfolk Alliance Division Three, beating Hunstsanton (197-4.)

They made the long journey to find light rain delaying the start.

Fortunately conditions improved and both captains agreed to play a reduced 40 overs a side game.

This was another very good all-round performance on an excellent batting wicket.

Ashmanhaugh won the toss and decided to invite Hunstanton to bat.

After a cautious start Hunstanton's overseas player, Sri, began to play some very fine shots to all parts of the ground.

He quickly brought up his 50, but just when it looked like Ashmanhaugh were about to lose control, change bowler Danny Flint tempted Sri to venture out of his crease and Tom Sallis carried out a good stumping to dismiss him for 63.

However, P Searle and D Sayers kept up a high-scoring rate for Hunstanton and it was not until the final few overs before Ashmanhaugh enjoyed any further success with Mike Harman bowling D Sayers for 49 and P Searle being well caught by Tom Daynes of Tauseef Satti's bowling for a well-made 50.

T Saddleton struck some lusty blows before being caught off the last ball of the innings for 26. The Hunstanton innings closed on 197-4.

In reply Ashmanhaugh openers Satti and Bernie Everett punished some loose Hunstanton bowling, with Satti in excellent form quickly moving to his 50 in only a few overs.

Everett playing a supporting role was dismissed for 20 with the score on 88. Satti was finally caught for 77 and Danny Flint (6) was also caught trying an expansive shot soon afterwards.

However Rod Gant 52, continuing his fine recent form, ably supported by Tom Sallis 28, took Ashmanhaugh to their victory target with two overs to spare.
