North Walsham Town travelled to Wymondham with a much changed squad due to eight players being unavailable and slipped to a 3-2 defeat.

Liam Clarke released Ryan Beeson, who fired wide, before a defensive error saw an intended back pass collected by the Wymondham striker who coolly fired home.

With a heavy pitch, this was a scrappy game although Walsham created early chances, with both Beeson and Grady seeing efforts saved.

Clarke then scored what he thought was the equaliser, only to have it disallowed for what looked like a harsh offside decision.

With half-time minutes away, Wymondham won a corner, which was half-cleared, before the follow-up shot was deflected past Jake Munday and into the net by Matty Payne, who was trying to clear his lines.

Following a half-time talk and a re-shuffle of the team and formation Walsham came out with a new attitude, with AJ Johnson and Colm McGilway getting hold of the ball and linking with the strikers. From an Johnson pass Beeson was through on goal but took too long taking his shot and fired into the side netting.

However, within 10 minutes, the improved passing game saw McGilway and Beeson link up for Clarke to slot home. Walsham were now creating chances, but got caught on the break by Wymondham who scored their third goal.

This saw Walsham make changes from the bench, with Graeme Turner coming on, and he instantly saw a first time effort saved, before seeing a second effort cleared off the line.

With only a few minutes remaining Walsham broke through Clarke who crossed for Graeme Turner to fire home and make the final score a more respectable 3-2.

The second period saw an improved performance from Walsham, and on another day it could have secured something out of the game, but a improved approach from the team will be required moving forward.

Clarke deserves praise for battling all game as does Chris Scannell for coming along and playing despite not being fully fit.

On Saturday the Angels are away to Hindringham (2.30pm) in their latest Anglian Combination Division One fixture.
