TENNIS: On a blustery evening, Cromer A welcomed a youthful Bracondale side. Unbeaten Cromer were aiming to continue their good start to the season.

Club coaches Keeble and Goldson paired up for the first set of 16 against the wily Youngs and county junior Carmichael Pleister.

Initially, Keeble and Goldson were slow to find their rhythm but a combination of solid returning from Goldson and some heavy overheads from Keeble gave the home pair a 10-6 win.

On the adjacent court, Alex Youngman and Alex Oliver combined brilliantly to earn an excellent 10-6 win against Trett and Taylor, both of whom have represented the county.

The canny Oliver was complemented by the punishing groundstrokes of Youngman.

With Cromer needing only 13 more games for another victory, captain Goldson demanded concentration from his team.

However, the coaches once again began slowly but gradually started to gain control and gained an 11-5 win.

This meant Oliver and Youngman needed just two games for a Cromer win.

This was never in doubt as the youngsters scrapped for every point and gained an 8-8 draw to give a final score of Cromer 39, Bracondale 25.

This is a great start to the season but a tough test awaits this week with Acle A the opponents.

Special thanks to LTA performance director Monty Burns whose sessions on overheads this week really proved crucial to the team's performance.
