NORTH Walsham Junior School sent its Year 6 boys' and girls' teams to participate in the recent Area Cross Country Championships held at North Walsham High School (see picture back page).
They were running in the U13 section, but unfazed by the size and age of the field from eight local high schools, they had a fabulous day's sport.
Individually, Georgina Wager finished second in the girls' section and Vinnie Fuller was not far behind in the boys' section, finishing sixth. There was further good news when the team results were added up: the girls came first and the boys second overall in the U13 East Norfolk age group.
There was also success on the football field. In the same week, boys and girls took part in a Football in the Community U11 tournament at Carrow Road.
They won all their matches without conceding a goal and are through to the championship finals to be held at Carrow Road in February.
PE Co-ordinator, Kathy Warren, and football coaches Emma Leavold and Kevin Wager declared themselves delighted with their teams' performances. 'The children's enthusiasm is always evident and they are committed to doing the best they can.'
