Thirteen North Norfolk Beach Runners were among the nearly 40,000 who ran the London Marathon at the weekend.
They received vocal support from other club members, including chairman Clive Hedges who flew the club flag and provided entertainment strategically at mile 21 to take runners' minds off 'the wall'.
Star performer for the club was Vinnie Purdy who clocked 3.00.22 for 1,950th place overall and 440th in the male 40-44 age group. Fifteen years after his first London marathon, with 130 marathons in various parts in between, the performance shaved four-and-a-half minutes off his personal best.
Not far behind was Charlotte Neale who had a fine run in 3.03.23 for 2,267th overall and 77th in the 18-39 female age group.
Other NNBR times ranged from 3.22.33 to 5.52.52 and several, for whom it was their first marathon, are still negotiating stairs in a sitting position!
