This year, Cromer again had the honour of hosting Men's Group Two, with the winners and runners-up promoted to the elite group who battle it out at Eastbourne.

It soon became clear that newly-promoted Buckinghamshire would struggle at Group Two level, while fellow promoted team Warwickshire looked a danger to all, with British No 3 junior Daniel Evans and fellow British top 20 player Maniel Bains pairing up.

Derbyshire were also able to call on top British talent with British No 17 Tom Rushby in their ranks.

While Dorset looked strong with former British top 10 player Richard Irwin available, Surrey were again captained by former British No 2 Danny Sapsford, whose experience at the top level is vital during critical matches.

A superb week's tennis resulted in Warwickshire being crowned champions and Dorset finishing as runners-up.

Derbyshire and Surrey retained their places in Group Two, while Essex and Bucks were relegated.

The final day was very tense with promotion and relegation places still up for grabs, but the tennis remained at a very high level, with some terrific serve, volleying and net exchanges.

Each day the large crowd cheered on their county, with Derbyshire particularly well supported.

Irwin achieved the notable feat of winning all 15 rubbers that he competed in over the five days.

Thanks went to all who helped make it such an enjoyable week - the ground staff, bar staff, all those who gave their time in the kitchen.

It is hoped that next year Cromer will again host Group Two as the courts at the seaside club remain a joy for players to play on.

Several captains commented that the surface was the equal of Eastbourne and this is all credit to the dedicated ground staff whose efforts are much appreciated by all at the club.
