Sheringham A maintained their promotion charge with an emphatic 155-run victory at home to Terrington in West Norfolk League Division Two.

After being put into bat Sheringham got off to a good start courtesy of openers Moy and M Hudson. With Moy particularly fluent the score moved on to 61 in the 16th over before he fell for an impressive 38.

Skipper Neave (13) and Hudson (37) fell as the scoring rate dropped, the score 95-3 after 27 overs.

This brought S Taylor and A Jenkins to the wicket. The pair batted sensibly to start with but with wickets in hand soon accelerated as the score moved along nicely.

After a partnership of 51, Taylor (20) fell and was followed by Jenkins (29) after he'd been joined at the crease by C Balluza. Sheringham's depth in batting showed as Balluza and G Blackiston (12) added a quickfire 35 for the sixth wicket, Balluza making a hard hitting 35, while Blackiston, S Hudson (0) and S Lloyd (4) also fell in the last two overs.

Nonetheless, Sheringham finished with a pleasing score of 213-9 off their allotted 45 overs.

With half the job done, Sheringham's bowlers set about completing victory and they didn't disappoint.

On a wicket which was both good for batting, yet offered enough for the bowlers, the Sheringham attack started economically with the score just 15-0 after eight overs, F Sutton (0-5) bowling particularly tidily.

It was his opening partner C Moy who got the breakthrough with the score on 17 in the 10th over.

M Hudson was introduced into the attack and he removed the other Terrington opener in his third over.

With Moy (2-12) and Hudson giving little away, the batsmen were getting frustrated and Moy's slower ball brought the third wicket, before Hudson bagged the fourth in the next over. This left Terrington in disarray on 22-4 with Sheringham's 213 looking a long way off.

It wasn't long before W Hudson removed two more to finish with figures of 4-8 off his seven overs, with Terrington reeling on 35-6 after 21 overs. A Jenkins (1-16) picked up the seventh but with storm clouds gathering ominously, Neave turned to spinners Balluza and J Moy (0-3) to wrap it up quickly.

Balluza obliged taking 3-12 off 5.4 overs, with the rain stayed away as Sheringham wrapped up a stunning 155-run victory, bowling Terrington out for just 58 in the 33rd over.

Sheringham A travel to Mundford A next Saturday, looking to win for the fourth game in a row and close in on a promotion spot.
