Work has started on a £700,000 project to build six more affordable homes in north Norfolk.

Earlier this week, social housing landlord Victory Housing Trust announced it had built 200 new homes in a year for the first time.

And now work has started on the new homes in Stalham, converting a derelict garage site into family homes.

Trust chief executive John Archibald and Paul Pitcher from contractor Wellington broke the ground at the site on Campingfield Lane, marking the start of work on the project.

Four of the new homes will be made available for affordable rent, while the other two will be available for low-cost shared ownership.

Mr Archibald said: “We are taking every opportunity to build much-needed new affordable homes in the area, and our programme of redeveloping former garage sites is enabling us to boost the number of homes we are able to deliver in north Norfolk.”
