Thorpe Market Road is now open again in both directions after the crash, which happened around 3pm today (Tuesday, May 29).

A black Ford Kuga SUV travelling south left the road and smashed into a low brick wall at the front of a property.

It was earlier believed the vehicle flipped onto its roof, however, this was not the case.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said a woman in her 70s was injured and had to be rescued from the vehicle by Norfolk Fire and Rescue.

Another occupant of the vehicle was able to get out unaided.

They were both then taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital by road ambulance.

Police closed the road, but it was reopened by 3.40pm as the car was out of the carriageway.

Fire engines from Sheringham, Aylsham and Carrow stations were there to assist police.
