Wighton Church Restoration Project

The Bishop of Norwich is visiting a north Norfolk church in celebration of its reopening.

The Rt Revd Graham James will take a Benefice Service at All Saints Church, Wighton, to mark the reopening of the Grade I listed church following a six-month closure for major renovation.

This is the final chapter of an ambitious four-year project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, to mark the 600th Anniversary Restoration Project.

Bishop Graham will re-dedicate the building and bless the newly-installed altar frontal.

Revd Brenda Stewart, rector of All Saints, said: “It is such a delight to resume worship in our newly renovated church and we are thrilled to welcome Bishop Graham as he joins us to celebrate the completion of the project.”

Brendan Hopkins, of Wighton Parochial Church Council (PCC), said: “Not only is it a very special day in the history of our church, it is also a chance to show Bishop Graham what our dedicated PCC has achieved through a long and concerted team effort.”

Before the service on Sunday May 13, Bishop Graham will give his blessing to a procession of 40 vintage tractors which will parade through the village, passing the church and war memorial at around 10am.

All are welcome to attend the service which will take place at 10.30am. Refreshments will be served in the church after the service.
