A newly-restored sign depicting the history and local landmarks of West Runton, near Cromer, has been put in place on the village green.
Painted by local artist Fiona Davies, who has completed similar projects in Norfolk villages including Gimingham, Edingthorpe, Beeston Regis, Haveringland and Walpole Cross Keys, the sign shows the famous West Runton elephant, the church, fishing boats and horses from Hillside Animal Sanctuary.
The scheme was the idea of the parish council, who, impressed with Ms Davies' work on the village sign at nearby East Runton, decided to revamp West Runton sign, which was originally installed by the local Women's Institute to mark the Queen's Silver Jubilee in 1977.
Parish councillor Chris Hawkins, who re-installed the sign with the help of village resident Carl Hodson, said: 'It was definitely looking a bit tatty, but we are delighted with the results; the sign will last a lot longer and it is very pleasing to the eye.'
