A Norwich couple with a shared passion for sailing have raised more than £500 for Sheringham RNLI, by asking for donations in lieu of presents when they got married at Gresham, near Cromer.

Andrew Willman, 51, and Caroline Stockwell, 52, who tied the knot on Saturday, decided to forgo the traditional wedding list and instead asked guests to support the lifeboat Caroline had seen on childhood holidays to Sheringham.

The couple visited the town on Sunday, to hand over the cash to crew members including helmsman Chris Taylor - a well-known local photographer and film-maker who took their wedding pictures.

They also had a chance to pose with Sheringham's Atlantic 85 lifeboat, The Oddfellows.

Caroline, whose late dad was a keen RNLI supporter and whose mum June moved to Sheringham in 2010, said: "People were asking what we wanted as a present, but, because we were married relatively late in life, we really didn't need anything and, as we had also done the New Year dip at Sheringham, the RNLI seemed like a natural choice."
