Restaurants and takeaways in parts of Norfolk have been warned to secure used cooking oil after a recent increase in thefts.

In the last week 400 litres of waste oil was stolen from premises on Norwich Road in Hoveton. The incident occurred between 11.30pm on Thursday April 5 and 7.30am on Friday April 6.

North Norfolk community engagement officer, PC Pete Davison, said “We are warning businesses to ensure that waste oil is securely stored following a recent increase in thefts across the North Norfolk and Broadland area.”

Anyone with any information relating to this crime, is asked to contact PC Tom Gibbs at Hoveton Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
