A controlled explosion off the Norfolk coastline was carried out early yesterday morning after a wartime artillery shell was discovered off the shoreline.

Navy Ordnance disposal experts from Portsmouth dealt with the unexploded bomb which was discovered on Friday by a member of the public in water close to the shore at Gore Point, Holme-next-the-Sea.
Yarmouth coastguard officers and the Hunstanton-based coastguard team were involved in the incident and the naval disposal experts dealt with the bomb which was detonated at about 7am yesterday morning.
