A talented singer from Stalham is hoping to be the next star of TV talent show The X Factor after auditioning in Norwich yesterday (Wednesday) for its latest search for Britain's next superstar.

Twenty-three-year-old Roys of Wroxham office assistant Lucy DeLuna, from Baker Street, was thrilled to be given a call back audition after her performance of Chaka Khan's Ain't Nobody.

After her first audition she said: 'It was really good. There was one guy watching and a spotlight. I was just in my zone and not thinking about anything else other than what I was singing.'

The show's mobile audition van is visiting towns and cities The X Factor arena auditions tour does not reach – and it spent yesterday (Wednesday) auditioning people outside the Forum in the city.

While the show would not reveal how many people attended the Norwich auditions, a spokesman said they were pleased with the turnout and the amount of talent that they had seen.

Miss De Luna is currently waiting to hear if she is through to the next round after impressing at her call back audition of Adele's One and Only.

'I have been singing all of my life,' she said.

'I have been practising with my voice properly for three or four years now, mainly singing in my bedroom with a karaoke track, then last summer I started doing open mike at my local pub and people wanted me to start gigging.

'I am hoping to branch out and I thought The X Factor would be a good way to do it. I think it is good experience.'

Miss De Luna, who celebrated her success last night by opening a bottle of wine, sings regularly at The Pleasure Boat Inn at Hickling.

Pub manager Glenn Wilson said the young star had been singing solo at the pub since October last year, after being inspired by her guitar-playing mother Carol Holmes, who also performs there.

Mr Wilson said: 'She has got the x factor there's no doubt about that and crikey it's a wonderful voice.

'She does a mix of old and new songs, including songs by Aretha Franklin, and she performs at our open mic sessions once a month now and has a following of about 30 to 40 people who come and listen to her sing.'

Miss De Luna will be performing at The Pleasure Boat again on May 18.

When asked why she wanted to win The X Factor she said: 'Music brings people together. It is so much fun and makes people so happy, and I want to do that forever.'
