Much-needed new affordable homes could be built in a north Norfolk village.

North Norfolk District Council's cabinet today agreed to dispose of its remaining retained housing land off Rectory Road in Edgefield, near Holt, for a housing scheme, subject to planning permission being secured.

The councillors agreed to dispose of the site to Broadland Housing Group, 'as the land was initially acquired for housing purposes and development of the site will deliver affordable housing and new market homes'.

Councillor Sue Arnold, portfolio holder for housing, said the housing group had made a good offer and it would benefit the community.

In response to a question from councillor Nigel Lloyd, shadow portfolio holder for economic development, about the timing of the sale, she said that there was no certainty that another buyer could be found.

Up to 20 new homes could be built on the site, including 10 affordable.
