It's been a long wait but a new purpose-built community centre costing £600,000 is now open in Trimingham, near Mundesley.
The environmentally-friendly building, just off the main coast road, will replace the current village hall, the pilgrim centre, which is located near the edge of a crumbling cliff in a 1930s building.
It will serve the entire parish with a wide range of activities and services and ensure the future of many local groups.
Work on the building started last September but Trimingham village hall trust chairman Terry Brown said the project pre-dated that by about five years.
Mr Brown said: 'We are now open for business and the village's annual artshow, which would have been held in the church, is already on show in the new main hall.
'All activities at the pilgrim centre will move here from next week.
'As far as the community is concerned, this means everything. It's so good for the village. And it's a sure sign the village is staying, and it's not going to slide off the cliff.'
The trust hopes to bring more health services into the new community hub, so people don't have to travel elsewhere, and Mr Brown added: 'It's a community facility for the whole Poppyland benefice.
'We don't want to take business away from others, but we want to offer help to support isolated people and young people. We hope the pilgrim centre will become a Deep History Coast discovery point.
The project was awarded about £425,000 from the Big Lottery Fund in 2017. It received about £152,000 from North Norfolk District Council's Pathfinder grant, about £10,000 from the Geoffrey Watling Foundation, and the ground source heating system was grant-funded by Sheringham Shoal.
About £30,000 was also raised through events ranging from car boot sales and keep fit sessions, to quizzes and whist drives.
Sheringham-based SMG Architects Ltd designed the building which was built by Norwich-based Omnis Construction Ltd.
The official opening will be carried out by North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb at noon on June 16.
