Four jet-setting Cromer travel agents will be busy going nowhere next Thursday, when they set off on a 44-mile exercise bike ride in aid of deaf and hard of hearing people.

The team, who work at Co-operative Travel in High Street, will be cycling the equivalent of the English Channel and back as part of their company's pledge to raise more than 2 million for the Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID) in 2009.

The cash will be used to support the charity's hearing check service, and to expand its Hear to Help scheme, which trains volunteers to give advice and support to elderly and vulnerable people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Joint Cromer branch manager Jo Dobbie will be kicking off the bike ride at 9.30am, with colleagues Sam Antoniades-Cork, Sarah Coleman and Toni Armishaw taking turns throughout the day.

The team has been collecting for the RNID all year by asking customers to hand in unwanted foreign coins and make donations in exchange for travel brochures. They also ran a "Best of British" summer raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses.

Jo hoped local people would pop in on Thursday to cheer the team on and make a donation.

"It is a really good cause, so we hope everybody in Cromer will support us, they can even take a turn on the bike if they want to," she said.

To sponsor the team, call in at the branch or phone 01263 514554. For more information about the RNID, phone the Freephone advice line on 0808 808 0123 or visit www.rnid.org.uk
