A Norfolk record store has kicked off national Record Store day with a visit from one of their most famous and loyal customers.
Tim Burgess, an artist and writer, as well as being the front man for The Charlatans, popped into Holt’s Vinyl Vault yesterday ahead of the country-wide event which is in its eleventh year.
Owner of the Vinyl Vault, Andrew Worsdale, 57, said: “Tim’s a regular customer, he dropped off a record of never before heard recordings which sold straight away.
“I think records are having a renaissance because of customer demand from across the ages. We have older people that want to buy the stuff from 50 years ago, but also younger people who buy the new stuff we stock. CDs were sort of forced on us in the 1980s and 1990s, and people still love this music form.
“We’ve got loads of events on today, including a live set from ‘The Curator’ Alistair Murphy who’s record is one of the best I’ve heard all year.”
