The organisers of a popular mid-Norfolk Christmas extravaganza have celebrated raising thousands for a children's charity.

Audiences at the 2018 Thursford Christmas Spectacular dug deep into their pockets to help reach the £2,900 total which was donated to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).

The money will go towards services such as Speak Out Stay Safe which teaches primary school children how to recognise and report abuse.

The Countess of Romney, chairman of West Norfolk NSPCC, accepted the cheque from Charlie Cushing on behalf of the charity.

She said: “Every penny donated by the generous public over Christmas will go a long way to protecting children across Norfolk and beyond from abuse and neglect.

“On behalf of the branch I would like to thank the Cushing family for raising vital funds to help children and young people.”
